Fatal Truck Crash Investigated

TURLOCK - The driver of a big rig was killed in a collision in Turlock after the vehicle left the highway for unknown reasons.

Officers were dispatched to the scene just north of Lander Avenue at about 9:58am. The big rig crashed through a wall and into a carport, striking several other vehicles, causing major damage.

The driver, identified only as an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators with CHP arrived to determine what led to the vehicle leaving the highway at a high rate of speed.

Two People Suffer Major Injuries in Car Crash

MODESTO - Two people suffered major injuries in a multi-vehicle traffic collision Tuesday evening.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Crows Landing and Hatch Roads at about 7:20pm for a report of a crash blocking the roadway. According to the California Highway Patrol one vehicle ran the stop light and collided with several other vehicles. Two occupants of a small gold sedan were pinned in the vehicle and required extrication.

Modesto Firefighters used heavy rescue tools to carefully cut away the vehicle around the occupants and remove them. One patient was rushed by ambulance to Shackleford Elementary School where an air ambulance landed for transportation to a hospital.

The other occupant was transported by ambulance to a hospital also with major injuries. Condition of the other involved drivers was unknown at time of publication. The incident was classified by CHP as a hit and run with injuries, however further details were not available.

The roadway was cleared shortly after 9:00pm.

Traffic Collision Blocks Oakdale Road

MODESTO - A two vehicle crash blocked lanes of Oakdale Road Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 1:00pm near the intersection of Oakdale Road and Morningside Drive. A silver Chrysler mini van overturned after colliding with an Infiniti G20.

An 80 year old woman who was in the G20 was transported by ambulance to a hospital for chest pain. The occupants of the overturned silver minivan were all out of the vehicle when police arrived.

Northbound lanes of Oakdale Road were closed at Wylie Drive for about an hour.

Arrest Made in Fatal Street Racing Crash

STOCKTON - Authorities with the Stockton Police Department arrested a 21 year old man in connection to a fatal January 25th crash.

Enrique Ruiz, 21, faces vehicular manslaughter charges among others for his alleged involvement in a street race earlier this year. Police say he was identified as the driver of one of the vehicles involved in a race that struck another vehicle spinning donuts near the intersection of Maranatha and Bryant Drives. A passenger of the vehicle spinning donuts died as a result of the collision.

Traffic investigators identified Ruiz as the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash and arrested him without incident at his home on Monday. He also faces charges for his participation in the street race in addition to vehicular manslaughter.

Fatal Crash on Crows Landing Road

MODESTO - Police investigated a fatal crash on Crows Landing Road Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a traffic collision at Crows Landing Road and Algen Avenue at about 5:30pm Monday. Early reports indicated a person was trapped in a red Honda Civic and additional resources were requested. The driver of that car was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police spokeswoman Heather Graves said that witness statements indicated the driver of the involved black SUV was driving recklessly before colliding with the Honda. The car was pulling out of a parking lot at the intersection when the crash happened.

Graves said that it was too early in the investigation to determine if charges could be pending in the case. In addition to the deceased driver, two other involved patients were transported to the hospital for care.

Turlock Fire Efforts Hour Long Rescue

TURLOCK - Firefighters removed a driver whose vehicle collided with a pole early Saturday morning.

The crash happened shortly before 4:00am near the intersection of Monte Vista and Walnut Avenues. Firefighters located a car that had come to rest just off the roadway after hitting a light pole.

Emergency personnel located the occupant trapped in the vehicle with serious injuries. Heavy rescue tools were used to effort an hour long operation to remove the patient. 

After about 60 minutes the patient was removed and taken to an air ambulance. The motorist was airlifted to an area hospital for care.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Further details were not available at time of publication.

Fatal Crash on I-5

WESTLEY - One person was injured in a crash on I-5 Friday afternoon.

A silver sedan traveling southbound on I-5 near the Westley exit hit the center guardrail and overturned, landing on its roof.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger was transported to a hospital but appeared okay, according to a CHP officer at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
