TURLOCK - A disabled freight train blocked several roadways for at least an hour Friday morning.
The train stretched from Fulkerth to A Streets blocking downtown roads. Early indications suggest the train suffered a mechanical failure.
The train was cleared and roadways opened again shortly after 11:30am. The cause of the breakdown was still unclear at time of publication.
MERCED COUNTY - An early morning bus crash shut down Highway 99 Tuesday.
The crash was reported at about 3:19am on the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Livingston. Early reports indicate a passenger bus was involved in the collision causing major damage and multiple injuries.
Traffic was being diverted around the crash on surface streets at time of publication. We will post further updates as they become available.
LA GRANGE - Emergency personnel responded to a report of a traffic collision Monday afternoon.
The crash was reported at about 1:30pm on Highway 132 about two miles west of J 59. Early reports indicate a vehicle ran off the roadway and crashed about 40 feet down a cliffside, landing upside down against a tree.
The occupants were able to exit the vehicle, at least one person reportedly suffered a neck injury.
STANISLAUS COUNTY - Emergency crews responded to a vehicle collision on Carpenter Road Monday morning.
MODESTO - Police are seeking any witnesses in relation to a collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian Saturday night.
At about 8:45pm, emergency personnel responded to the area of Tully Road north of Standiford Avenue for a report of a person struck by a vehicle.
As officers arrived, they located a woman who had suffered fatal injuries.
Police say the woman was a 67 year old Modesto resident who was crossing the 3700 block of Tully Road. Authorities say the driver was a 37 year old Hollister man driving a Toyota Camry north on Tully Road. The events leading up to the collision are still under investigation.
Police say drug or alcohol impairment do not appear to be a factor in the collision. Police did not release the identity of the pedestrian pending notification of kin.
STOCKTON - Emergency personnel responded to a major traffic collision Saturday night, which claimed the life of one driver.
The crash was reported at about 9:20pm near the intersection of Hammer Lane and Girardi Way and involved two vehicles. The driver of one vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A silver sedan had major front end damage, and the second vehicle appeared to have also collided with a pole. The vehicle with the fatality also had four child passengers, all which were transported to hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.
The second vehicle was occupied by an adult female driver and three children, and all were transported to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.
Police traffic officers responded to conduct an investigation into the circumstances regarding the crash.
CERES - Emergency crews responded to a report of a person struck by a vehicle late Sunday morning.
The collision was reported shortly before 11:45am near the intersection of Nadine Avenue and Herndon Road.
The patient suffered leg, chest and facial injuries, but they were considered non life-threatening. They were only identified as an adult male.
