MODESTO - A Saturday afternoon traffic collision closed down Scenic Drive for several hours, leaving several people injured.

The collision happened at about 2:00pm on Scenic Drive just east of Bodem Street, involving a white Nissan Xterra and a gray Dodge pickup truck. Early indications suggested the Nissan was traveling eastbound when it came into the path of the pickup, resulting in a t-bone type crash.

The Nissan was occupied by a woman and two children ages of under one, and the other about ten years old. Modesto and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire crews responded to the scene with equipment to extricate the occupants from the vehicles. One child was airlifted to a hospital for care. The crash was classified as "major injury."

Police officers closed off Scenic from Bodem to Coffee Road to investigate the crash and clean up the wreckage and fluid spills.

Truck Driver Suffers Minor Injuries in Crash

MODESTO - A truck driver narrowly escaped serious injury after running off of highway 99 Tuesday morning.

The crash happened at about 7:30am near the northbound Highway 99 off ramp to South 9th Street in Modesto. It just missed colliding into Ceres Fire Station Two, but did crash into a water well and a firefighter’s personal vehicle.

Officials say had the vehicle struck the fire station, it would have hit the workout room which was previously the sleeping quarters for firefighters.


The frontage road was closed while HazMat and other emergency personnel assessed the situation. California Highway Patrol officers responded to investigate the collision.


The truck was hauling about 40 thousand pounds of almonds.

Investigation Continues into Fatal Modesto Crash

MODESTO - Police continue their investigation into a crash that claimed the life of a 29 year old woman.

At about 1:00am Thursday, officers received several 911 calls reporting a crash in the area of Standiford and Longbridge Avenues. The calls indicated that a vehicle had collided into a tree and the woman found inside was unresponsive.

Medics arrived on scene and pronounced the driver, identified as 29 year old Gisela Flores, deceased from injuries suffered in the collision.

Indications early in the investigation suggest that the driver was traveling westbound on Standiford Avenue in a 2010 Honda Accord when she collided into a light pole near Tully Road. Flores continued driving until she lost control of her vehicle near Longbridge Avenue and crashed into a tree.

Police say speed and alcohol are suspected as factors in the crash.

Traffic officers closed the road down for several hours to investigate the crash. Flores was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Pedestrian Struck by Train in Turlock

TURLOCK - Emergency crews were dispatched to a report of a train that struck a pedestrian Friday morning.

The collision was dispatched at about 11:00am, indicating the pedestrian was struck near the intersection of Canal Drive and Front Street. 
Police located a body near First and Julian, under the train. Indications suggest the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries.
The train stopped at the scene as authorities investigated. The circumstances surrounding the incident were unclear at time of publication.

Hit and Run Driver Arrested

SONORA - A man wanted in connection to a felony hit and run collision was arrested after an employee of a cafe in Murphy's recognized the driver inside the business.

The employee of the cafe called authorities after seeing 76 year old Louis Page of Valley Springs inside the business. A Calaveras County Sheriff Deputy responded to detain Page until Sonora authorities could arrive to discuss the incident with him.

Page was wanted for questioning in connection to a hit and run collision involving a pedestrian on October 18th near the intersection of North Washington and Elkin Streets. The pedestrian, 30 year old Jessica Williams of Jamestown, was struck in the crosswalk of the intersection suffering major injuries. She was transported to a hospital and airlifted to Modesto for further care.

Witnesses say that Page stopped momentarily and asked Williams if she was okay, then fled when one person mentioned contacting authorities. Page was identified through a photo lineup. 

Authorities say Page admitted his involvement in the crash, stating that he fled the scene after he was unable to find a place to pull over following the crash. Authorities located damage on Page's vehicle consistent with accounts of the collision.

Page was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for felony hit and run.

Motorcycle Crash Closes Interstate Five

WESTLEY - A collision involving a motorcyclist closed Interstate Five shortly before noon Saturday.

The crash was reported at about 11:43am in the northbound lanes near the Westley Rest area. Arriving emergency personnel reported a motorcyclist down in the roadway. It was unclear if the motorcyclist was the only person involved or if they collided with another vehicle.

An air ambulance responded to transport the patient to a hospital for care. Fire crews closed the roadway down to allow for safe landing of the helicopter. The motorcyclist was flown to Doctor's Medical Center in Modesto.

At time of publication, no further details were available. Roadways were re-opened shortly before 12:30pm.

Fatal Crash Investigated on McHenry

MODESTO - A pedestrian was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a car on McHenry Avenue.

The collision happened at around 5:45am just south of the Rumble Road intersection. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased.
The involved vehicle appeared to be a dark Nissan sedan with visible front passenger side and windshield damage. The driver was at the scene speaking with authorities.
Police closed off southbound McHenry between Rumble Road and Woodrow Avenue for the investigation.
