Fatal Crash Update

Written by

MODESTO - A motorist in a green Mazda MPV was killed in a collision with a big rig late Sunday night near the Wood Colony community.

The collision was reported at about 9:30pm. First responders located the green Mazda pushed into the back of the trailer of the big rig. It appears the collision happened at the intersection of Beckwith Road and Beckwith Court, and the two vehicles traveled toward the Highway 99 stuck together before coming to a stop.

The driver of the Mazda, a 56 year old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Firefighters with the Modesto Fire Department used the jaws of life and other tools to cut the Mazda apart. Early reports indicated a possible second victim in the vehicle, but after removing the roof and seats of the vehicle no one else was located.

Beckwith was closed from Dakota Avenue to the Highway 99 overcrossing while CHP officers investigated the collision.
