A head on collision was narrowly avoided there, but according to witnesses it then collided into another big rig. The SUV erupted into flames and came to rest just off the roadway. One big rig was disabled in the roadway, the other came to rest off the roadway just past the collision.

Jose Robles was behind the SUV when the collision occurred. "The Dodge Durango crossed the yellow line and hit the fuel tank of the truck," he said. "The Durango busted into flames immediately."

Robles immediately went to aid the driver of the SUV. "The driver was covered in cuts from the broken glass and had a broken hand. He looked like he may have had a broken nose too." Robles noted that the driver was bleeding significantly from the nose. He provided aid until firefighters arrived at the scene. Both truck drivers appeared okay.

A CHP officer at the scene said although the collision looked very bad, the driver was alert and conscious with moderate injuries. He was transported to a hospital by ambulance for care.
