Written by

MODESTO - Police say a man in his 20’s died in an early morning crash Sunday.

The crash happened at about 7:00am on Standiford Avenue just east of Tully Road. Sergeant Kalani Souza with the Modesto Police Department said that a single vehicle was involved in the collision and appeared to cross from eastbound into westbound lanes before crashing into a pole.

Police arrived to find medical personnel providing aid to the driver. He was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

Standiford Avenue was closed while traffic officers investigated the crash. Sergeant Souza indicated speed was being considered as a factor in the crash, but it was too early to tell if drugs or alcohol played a role.
