Woman Dies After Being Struck by Car

MODESTO - A 34 year old woman died as a result of her injuries after being struck by a vehicle late Sunday morning.

The crash was reported at about 11:00am near the intersection of North 9th Street north of Carver Road. Emergency crews arrived and found the woman, identified as 34 year old Vanessa Julian, down in the roadway. She was rushed to a hospital where she died.

According to the investigation, Julian was pushing her bicycle across North 9th Street when she was struck by a 2015 Hyundai Veloster. Police say she was outside of a crosswalk when the collision happened. The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police have not determined a cause to the crash and do not believe alcohol or drug impairment are factors. Authorities still need to examine evidence and are seeking additional witnesses.

Woman Killed After Being Struck By Car

STOCKTON - A 23 year old woman suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning.

The collision was reported after 8:00am near the intersection of Hammertown and Tam O’Shanter Drives. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital where she died from her injuries. Police say the involved driver remained at the scene.

Police closed off the area to investigate the crash.

Police Seek Vehicle in Fatal Hit and Run

STOCKTON - Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a vehicle caught on surveillance video following a fatal hit and run crash over the weekend.

Shortly before 7:30pm on March 10th, officers were called to the area of Main Street and Searchlight Avenue for a report of a person struck by a vehicle. The victim, a man in his 60's, was struck by the vehicle while he was crossing the street. The vehicle did not stop at the scene before police arrived.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. Traffic investigators responded to the scene to take over the case.

A surveillance image was released by police depicting the vehicle the fled the scene. The vehicle is described as possibly a white Trailblazer or Oldsmobile Bravada.

WESTON RANCH - A nine year old girl died from injuries after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon, police say.

At about 3:39pm, officers responded to the area of Carolyn Weston Boulevard and Ishi Goto Street for a report of a child hit by a vehicle. Early reports indicate the child was struck while crossing the street.

A citizen performed CPR on the child until medics arrived to transport the girl, who was then flown to UC Davis medical center. She later died from her injuries.

Authorities day the driver remained at the scene as officers investigated the crash.

According to an email sent out by the Manteca Unified School District, the child was a 4th grade student at August Knodt Elementary. The email expressed condolences and encouraged strength among staff members and their families. Additional district staff members and counselors were expected to be on campus for the remainder of the week.

MODESTO - Authorities have arrested a 28 year old man on DUI and Homicide charges in connection to a fiery crash that killed two people overnight.

Alfonso Rodriguez-Quintana was charged in the deaths of two passengers of a blue 2002 Dodge pickup that crashed into a tree near the intersection of McHenry and Sylvan Avenues at about 12:30am Thursday morning. The crash trapped the two occupants who lost their lives, Rodriguez-Quintana was found on the ground nearby.

Arriving first responders found the truck in flames and work to extinguish the fire. Investigators believe Rodriguez-Quintana was the driver of the truck and was suspected of driving while intoxicated. He was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on two counts of homicide, driving under the influence causing injury, gross bodily injury during the commission of a felony and an outstanding warrant.

Traffic investigators are still working to determine the events leading up to the crash. Police are still examining evidence and are looking for any witnesses to the crash.

Police Investigate Fiery Fatal Crash

MODESTO - Police investigated an early morning crash that claimed the life of at least one person Thursday.

The crash was reported at about 12:30am near the intersection of McHenry and Sylvan Avenues. According to a Modesto Police Sergeant, a blue four door pickup was reported traveling eastbound when it collided into a tree on the north side of Sylvan Avenue. The impact uprooted the tree and caused the truck to burst into flames. One person was located outside of the vehicle and transported by ambulance. Their condition was unknown at time of publication.

At least one person lost their life in the crash, and possibly a second deceased occupant was anticipated in the vehicle, according ot authorities. Speed is being considered as a factor in the crash. 

Sylvan Avenue was closed for several hours as police investigated the collision.

Overturned Vehicle near Central Modesto

MODESTO - Emergency crews responded to a report of an overturned vehicle Friday morning.

The crash was reported at about 10:43am near the Central Modesto exit of Northbound Highway 99. Early reports indicate a single vehicle overturned, with at least one occupant trapped.

Two nurses who were off duty stopped to help as fire crews arrived. Traffic was delayed in both directions as emergency personnel worked to treat the injured motorist. There was no update on their extent of injuries at time of publication.
