Fundraiser Opened For Homicide Victim

Relatives of Ricardo Cobb who was shot to death on July 4th has set up a fundraiser page to assist with his funeral.

According to relatives, Cobb had just flown in from Georgia two days before and was to be married on July 4th. Stanislaus County Sheriff Deputies were called to a home near Leon and Figaro for a report of a shooting. They arrived and found Cobb suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

"We are helping his family so he can rest at his home in Georgia where he lived. We opened a donations pay pal account to help out The family for his funeral," relatives told CVTV. "all funds will go to his family to help out with the funeral arrangements."

Shooting Victim Airlifted

On 7-7-2013 at 3:05 p.m., Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a person shot in a field near Simmons Rd and Washington Rd in the unincorporated area of Turlock California.

The victim and the suspects’ wife had been working in a watermelon field on Simmons Road. They were walking to their cars with several co-workers after finishing work for the day. As they were walking they heard a car approaching them at a high rate of speed. As they turned around the suspects’ wife saw her husband, 42 year old Eduardo Favian Maldonado, driving his dark red Mercury towards them. Maldonado began shooting at them, striking the victim and barely missing his wife. The victim was transported by Medi-Flight to Memorial Hospital in Modesto, where he succumbed to his injuries at approx 8:00 a.m. this morning. The victim has not been identified.

Eduardo Maldonado was seen fleeing the area and has not been seen since. He was driving a dark red or maroon 1999 four door Mercury Mystique, California license plate number 5FLX194. Maldonado may be attempting to flee to Mexico, where he is originally from. He is wanted for 187PC-Murder, 664/187-Attempted Murder and 664/273.5PC-Attempted Corporal Injury on a Spouse. It is unknown at this time the reason Maldonado was shooting at his wife and her co-workers. The case is still under investigation.

Bomb Squad Responds To Bag

On Friday afternoon Modesto Police Officers responded to a report of a suspicious bag left in a business on the 3300 block of McHenry Avenue. Employees carried that bag outside and awaited authorities who later called out the Stanislaus County Bomb Squad. After investigation and several businesses being evacuated in the shopping center, it was later determined to be a laptop and remote controlled car in the bag. Officials believe the items were stolen in a vehicle burglary earlier in the day. The person who left the bag was reportedly exhibiting odd behavior and was not located.

SFO: Boeing 777 Down

A Boeing 777 operated by Asiana Airlines has crashed at San Francisco International Airport, the FAA confirms. The airline is based out of Taipei, South Korea. Fire crews are on at least a 3rd alarm assignment. Witness statements indicate the tail may have hit the runway when the aircraft was landing.

Passenger David Eun of New York says "There are emergency personnel all over the place. I haven't felt this way since 9/11"

Woman Shot Dead At Intersection

(Raw Video) Modesto, CA- Detectives are asking for your help with information to a shooting that occurred just before midnight on July 4th, leaving one person dead.

At about 11:58 p.m., 911 dispatchers received several calls of gunshots being fired in the area of Colorado Avenue and Pelton Avenue. When officers arrived they found 21 year-old, Teresa Provencio of Modesto, with a fatal gunshot wound. Witnesses reported the gunshots were being fired from a 90's model compact vehicle that was light in color.

Karissa Aline Schell has been reported missing out of Turlock since July 6th 2011. She is a caucasian female born on December 11th, 1994. She stands 5'6 and is 140lbs with brown hair and eyes.

Karissa was last seen wearing a black and gray T-shirt, and blue jeans. She has dimple piercings and a tattoo of a pair of lips on her neck. She dyes her hair, and wears contacts occasionally.

Man Shot Dead On Wedding Day

(Raw Video) Modesto -- On 07-04-13 at 2:11 p.m. Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 Block of Figaro Avenue in Modesto, CA regarding a 911 call of a person shot. When deputies arrived they found a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence. Inside the vehicle was 21 year old Ricardo Cobb of Georgia, Cobb was slumped over and had a gunshot wound. When emergency services personnel arrived they pronounced Cobb deceased on scene.

Detectives responded and took over the investigation. They worked through out the afternoon interviewing witnesses and processing the crime scene. At this point in the investigation, detectives do not have any suspect information. They believe that the residence where the vehicle was found is not the location where the shooting occurred.

Detectives know that Cobb was a passenger in the vehicle and while he and the driver were traveling down Robertson Road their vehicle was shot at. It is not known how many times or from what direction. The driver of the vehicle drove to the Figaro Avenue address where 911 was called. Detectives checked several locations on Robertson Road, but were unable to locate the crime scene.

"the young man who was murdered found on figaro from Georgia his name was Ricardo Cobb from georgia he was going to marry my daughter on forth of july . he got shot in back of his head my son was in the car with ricardo and also my daughters boyfriend with our grand daughter in the car obviously my son in law ricardo was not murdered on figaro he was murdered somewhere else in the west side of modesto the police are still investigating the whole incedent . the bad sad news is me and my wife have to send my son in law back to georgia to his family once we get the ok from the morg to see him and say our last good bye's.

he had just arrived from the airport 2 days ago and yesterday he was pronounced dead."

Twice Arrested For Counterfeiting

Ripon: On 06-29-13, at approximately 2am, Officer Brett Delgado was conducting burglary patrols in the area of S. Acacia Ave. and Second St. He observed a suspicious male, riding a bike without lighting in the darkness through the neighborhood. The male was contacted and he was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, counterfeit currency and marijuana. Antonio Orozco (41) of Ripon was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on felony charges that included possession of a controlled substance, possession of counterfeit currency, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

On 07-03-13, Ripon’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) responded to the 1200 block of Seventh St. to make contact with Orozco. Upon contact with Orozco, additional suspected counterfeit currency, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was discovered on his person and at his residence. Antonio Orozco (41) of Ripon, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on felony charges that included possession of counterfeit currency, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

Ripon’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is working closely with federal law enforcement partners regarding these cases.

Robbery Suspect Arrested

On June 27, 2013 at about 11:15 a.m., two suspects entered the Farmers and Merchants Bank located in the 900 block of Carpenter Rd. The suspects brandished handguns and demanded money from the bank employees.

The suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a white Mercedes that was recovered a short distance from the bank. Jose Garcia, 22 years-old of Watsonville, was identified as a suspect in the robbery and was taken into custody in Watsonville on June 28, 2013.

Jose was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on a charge of Robbery. Detectives are in the process of identifying additional suspects and are asking anyone with information about this robbery to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
