Shooting Investigated Near Ceres

MODESTO -  Emergency crews responded to a report of a person shot on Pecos Avenue shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

The shooting was reported on the 1400 block of Pecos Avenue. Authorities investigating several reports of gunshots in the area responded and located a victim. Fire personnel and ambulance medics were called to treat the victim.

Early indications suggest the victim was driving through the area when a bullet struck that person in the arm. No information on age and gender of the victim was available at time of publication.

Authorities may be looking for a dark colored Nissan Maxima with tinted windows in relation to the case. The shooting is under investigation.

Modesto Police Investigate Shooting

MODESTO - Police responded to a report of a shooting Wedndesday night near the downtown area.

The Shooting was reported just after 8:00pm near the intersection of 14th and D Streets. Officers on patrol in the area heard several gunshots prior to being dispatched to the area.

A male victim was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Early indications suggest he was conscious and talking. No suspect information was available at time of publication.

Six Year Old Girl Shot, Police Investigate

STOCKTON - Police are looking for a suspect after a shooting injured a six year old girl late Sunday night.

The incident was reported at about 11:10pm in the area of the 100 block of East Frist Street. The girl was a passenger in a Chevy Tahoe with her mother when an older white two door Saturn pulled up along side them and opened fire.

Several shots were fired, and the Tahoe was struck on the passenger side. The child was hit by one of the gunshots, and her mother transported her to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as a thin Hispanic male in his 20's wearing a beanie.

Fatal Stockton Shooting Investigated

STOCKTON - Police are asking for the public's help in a shooting that claimed the life of one man and injured two others.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting outside of a bar on the 4500 block of Pershing Avenue just after 1:30am Sunday. A man was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound and later pronounced deceased at the scene by medics. He was later identified as 26 year old Cedric Purify.

During the investigation, two additional victims arrived at the hospital suffering from non life threatening gunshot wounds. The 26 year old man and 21 year old woman were treated for their injuries.

MODESTO: A man was pronounced dead at a home after being shot during what police say appears to be a targeted robbery Sunday night.

Police received the call of the shooting at about 9:43pm on Pine Tree Lane in West Modesto. Officers arrived to find a man in a home suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

Police spokeswoman Heather Graves says the victim was home alone when a woman and two children arrived. As they approached the home, two men waiting outside forced them inside at gunpoint. During the incident shots were fired and the man who was in the home was struck.

The suspects fled the scene, and it is unknown if they took anything according to Graves. They are described as two Hispanic men in their 20's and were last seen running on foot.

One neighbor in the area witnessed a child flee the home screaming for help. Police say no other persons were injured during the incident.

Police Search for Gunman

MODESTO - Police set up a perimeter Tuesday afternoon during a search for a gunman that closed down Coffee Road.

The incident began at about 2:00pm when police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle on the 3100 block of Coffee Road. The white Chevy Impala pulled into a driveway and an occupant fled armed with a silver handgun.

Additional officers were called to the scene to establish a perimeter in the neighborhood. The suspect was last seen jumping a fence into the neighborhood east of Coffee Road.

Police would not allow any traffic into the neighborhood for safety concerns. Multiple officers with the SWAT team and several K-9 officers responded to assist as well.

The suspect surrendered to officers at about 4:30pm.

Woman Shot, Vehicle Flees

MODESTO - A woman suffered a minor wound to the arm after being shot late Monday night.

The incident happened at about 11:45pm on Rose Avenue near Kruger Drive. Witnesses reported hearing several gun shots and police arriving moments later.

An adult woman was hit by gunfire in the forearm. Medics treated her at the scene and released her.

According to a group of witnesses, a blue vehicle drove back around the block and watched before speeding off as police arrived. Indications suggest the shooter fled in a blue vehicle.

Gunshots Heard, Man Found Dead

STOCKTON - Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The incident happened at 2:28am Saturday morning on the 8700 block of Antonio Way in north Stockton. Police were called to the area after residents heard sounds of gunfire outside their homes.

Witnesses looked outside their windows and saw a man down on the ground. Officers arrived and found the shooting victim unresponsive. He was only identified as an adult male.

Turlock Police Seek Homicide Suspects

TURLOCK - Police are seeking suspects in a late night shooting that left one person dead Thursday night.

Officers responded to a home on the 1100 block of Baywood at about 11:40pm on reports of a shooting with a person down.

Police believe the suspects entered the home prior to the victim's arrival and tied up and assaulted a resident. The suspects were exiting the home when the victim arrived from a trip to a store.

The suspects opened fire on the victim, striking him as he exited his vehicle. He was rushed to a hospital but later died.

Authorities have identified the victim as 22 year old Marcus Culebro. Investigators discovered about 190 marijuana plants in the home but are unsure if this was a motive in the case.
