Modesto Police Seek Assault Suspect

MODESTO - Police are seeking a man who posed as a police officer and attempted to assault a woman in November.

Authorities say the incident happened on November 26th, 2015. A 43 year old woman stopped on 13th Street in Modesto after experiencing trouble with her vehicle. She was approached by a man in plain clothes who identified himself as a police officer and threatened to arrest her for a parking violation.

The man sat down in the passenger seat of the victim's vehicle. The victim started the car and began driving after several minutes with the suspect still inside. As the woman stopped in a nearby business parking lot, the suspect grabbed the woman's chest and began to pull his pants down.

The suspect also tried to take the keys out of the ignition, but the victim drove off toward a group of people. When the suspect noticed the group, he exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Authorities say the suspect is a white or hispanic male in his 20's or 30's. He is approximately 5'11'' and about 240lbs with short facial hair and acne scarring. He was wearing a dark colored hoodie, baseball cap and sweat pants.

STOCKTON - Police are investigating an officer involved shooting after a pursuit that ended just west of Interstate 5.

The incident happened late Sunday afternoon when an officer witnessed a man assaulting a woman in a vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the car, but the man fled, at one point driving the wrong direction on the highway.

As the pursuit exited I-5 and entered surface streets, officers used an intervention technique to disable the vehicle and end the pursuit.

As police attempted to approach the vehicle to order the driver to surrender, the man accelerated and charged at officers. Two of the officers opened fire, striking the suspect several times.

The suspect was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The woman in the vehicle was not hit by gunfire and later interviewed by investigators.

An investigation into the officer involved shooting was initiated by police.

Man Found Severely Beaten

MODESTO - Authorities are investigating an assault that left an adult male seriously injured in the hospital.

According to Deputy Anthony Bejaran with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, a Modesto Police Officer located an adult Hispanic male victim down on the sidewalk in front of Robertson Road Elementary School Sunday night. The officer called for medical assistance when he noticed the victim was suffering from injuries.

The victim was taken to the hospital and his condition is unknown. Deputy Bejaran said the victim appeared to be in his 50's. Deputies responded and took over the crime scene while detectives responded to investigate.

During the course of the investigation, it appears the victim was shopping in the nearby River View Market. He was apparently attacked by several individuals as he left the store. A description of the suspects was not available at time of publication.

Police Seek Sexual Assault Suspect

MODESTO - Police are seeking tips after a teen was sexually assaulted Monday morning.

The incident happened near Montclair Drive not far from Eisenhut School. The 15 year old victim was walking in the area when a suspicious man approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately.

Police spokeswoman Heather Graves said the teen turned and immediately called police, yelling at the suspect who fled.

The suspect was described as a caucasian male adult about 6' tall weighing about 250 pounds. He was balding and the hair he did have was brown in color. He was seen wearing a black hoodie and pajama pants.

Break in Leads to Stabbing

STOCKTON - Police say a man was stabbed by an unknown assailant after the suspect kicked the victim's door in Friday afternoon.

Police responded to a residence on the 600 block of North Edison Street where the victim was located. According to authorities, the suspect kicked the victim's door open and began stabbing him.

The suspect, described as an African-American adult male in his 30's, fled on a bicycle. He is said to stand at about 5 feet 5 inches tall to about 5 feet 8 inches and weigh approximately 180 lbs.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of his wounds.

Man Arrested in Child Sexual Assault Case

STOCKTON - An 83 year old man was arrested on sexual assault charges involving a child on Tuesday.

Police say Thar Phy was arrested for felony sexual battery on a seven year old child.

On Tuesday, a seven year old girl was playing with a friend on the 2300 block of Bernay Court when they were approached by an adult male. The man offered the children money, who grabbed and fondled the victim when she reached for the cash. The girl pushed the suspect and ran away while her friend ran to a neighbor's house to ask for help.

Neighbors confronted the man who fled from the neighborhood. He was described as an older Asian Male adult who had no teeth. He was seen riding a black and red bicycle with a basket.

Police released information regarding the case requesting tips through Crime Stoppers. Phy's arrest was announced Wednesday.

Sheriff Deputies Investigate Stabbing

MODESTO - Authorities with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office are investigating a stabbing that occurred early Monday morning in a south Modesto neighborhood.

Deputies were called to the area of Spokane and Butte Avenues just before 1:00am initially for a report of a person who had been shot. When deputies arrived they located a man in front of a home who had suffered several stab wounds.

An ambulance was called to the scene and the man was taken to a hospital for treatment. Deputies worked to determine who attacked the man, and the circumstances leading up to the incident. The extent of his injuries were unclear at time of publication.

An area of Butte Avenue was taped off where some of the victim's belongings were found.

Sword Assault Reported

MODESTO - Authorities with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office are investigating a report of an assault with a sword reported Friday night.

The incident was reported just before 11:00pm on the 600 block of Roselawn Avenue. Medics were called to the scene after deputies responded to investigate.

The suspect reprtedly fled in a pickup before authorities arrived. The weapon was also not located.

Police Issue Warning After Teen Assaulted

MODESTO: Police have issued a warning after a teen girl was sexually assaulted this morning by an unknown male with a gun.

Police say the girl encountered the suspect near the area of McHenry and Morris, where she was forced into a vehicle. He then drove her to a vacant home in a residential area where she was assaulted.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 20's standing at about 6' tall, 140 lbs. He is said to have hazel eyes with a black tattoo on his upper left arm. He was driving a 2-door black Acura with chrome rims.

The girl was dropped off near Enslen Park. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Man Wanted In Connection With Uncle's Death

STOCKTON - Police are looking for a man they say is wanted in connection with the death of a 65 year old man.

Officials say they are looking for 41 year old Richmond Johnson, who is the victim's nephew. Police believe the two were involved in an altercation where the victim, 65 year old Harry Grigsby.

Medics responded on January 26th to a report of an unconscious person at a home on the 2400 block of East 6th Street. The patient, Grigsby, was transported to the hospital for treatment. Police were notified because he had a severe head injury. Grigsby died Wednesday January 29th.
