Teen Killed in Empire Shooting

EMPIRE - Authorities with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a teen late Friday night.

The shooting was reported at about 11:20pm on the 4800 block of McNary Court. Deputies responded to multiple 911 calls of a shooting at a residence. When they arrived, they found three juveniles that had been shot.

All three victims were transported to a hospital. One victim, a 16 year old boy, died from his wounds. Authorities say the other two victims are expected to survive.

After interviewing witnesses and processing the crime scene, investigators believe the three victims were attending a party at the home on McNary Court before the shooting. Authorities note that people were leaving the party as deputies arrived. Investigators would like to speak to any witnesses who were at the party and may have information.

Authorities do not have any suspect information, or identification of the victim.

Man Injured in Weekend Drive By Shooting

MODESTO - A man who was working on a vehicle Sunday night was injured in a drive-by shooting. 

Police responded to a report of a person shot on Moran Avenue just east of Phoenix Avenue shortly after 9:00pm Sunday. Police arrived and found a 32 year old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed by ambulance to a hospital.

Early reports indicate the victim was working on his vehicle when he was shot by a passing car. Officials say he is expected to survive. The motive behind the shooting is unclear.

Police, Family Seek Missing At-Risk Man

MANTECA - Authorities are searching for a Ceres man who went missing from the AMC theater and is at risk.

Luis Alfonso Ortega is 26, but relatives say he is severely autistic and has the mental capacity of a six year old. He left the AMC Theater on foot at about 9:30pm Sunday night. He was last seen walking east toward the Bass Pro Shop.

Ortega is six feet tall and was last seen wearing a red hat, black coat and black pants. Family says he likes video game stores, and may appear distraught or confused. He is afraid of people and may be unable to answer any questions.

Teen Arrested in Keyes Shooting Case

KEYES - Deputies arrested a 15 year old boy accused of shooting a man who attempted to break up a fight.

Authorities were dispatched for a report of a shooting at about 2:08pm Tuesday near the area of Jennie Avenue and 7th Street. Deputies arrived and found a 38 year old man had been shot during an attempt to break up a fight between two others. When the fight was broken up, the suspect turned and shot the victim in the abdomen.

A 15 year old boy from Keyes was identified as the suspect. The teen fled the area before deputies arrived, but was located and detained during a search of a nearby orchard. He was booked into Juvenile Hall for assault with a deadly weapon and was also charged with elder abuse for striking an elderly relative in December.

The victim was rushed to a hospital before deputies arrived and is expected to survive.

MODESTO - Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in a downtown parking lot that also left a second man injured.

Early Sunday morning dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a shooting that had happened in a parking lot near the intersection of 10th and I Streets. Police arrived and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Authorities identified the victim as 26 year old Jimmy McAny. A 22 year old man later arrived at a hospital by private vehicle also suffering from gunshot wounds. He was treated and released.

Police believe McAny was involved in an altercation with another group of individuals before being shot. Investigators are working to establish a motive and identify suspects in the case.

Authorities Arrest Man Following West Modesto Shooting

MODESTO - Authorities arrested a man on homicide related charges after a shooting Friday afternoon on Vernon Avenue.

Shortly before 3:00pm, deputies with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on the 1700 block of Vernon where they found a man down in the driveway who had been shot. The victim, identified only as a 47 year old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deputies detained 48 year old Joey Hardy at the scene during the investigation. After interviewing witnesses, detectives learned that an argument took place at the home before the shooting happened.

Hardy was transported to the Sheriff's Office and later booked into the Stanislaus County Jail. Detectives are working to establish the relationship between him and the victim.

Man Shot During Confrontation With Trespassers

STOCKTON - A man was injured after being shot during a confrontation with trespassers Tuesday night, police say.

The shooting was reported on the 900 block of Sunnyoak Way shortly after 9:00pm. Authorities say the victim noticed two males exiting the neighbor's backyard and became involved in a fight after confronting them. As the suspects attempted to flee, the victim threw a shovel at the suspects, who opened fire with a gun striking the victim in the chest and arm.

The victim was rushed to a hospital where he underwent surgery for his wounds. Police say he is expected to survive. The suspects are described as three males, two caucasian and the third an unknown race in their 20's weighing about 150lbs.
