Authorities Arrest Man For Workplace Shooting Threat

LATHROP - Authorities booked a man into the San Joaquin County Jail after he made threats to shoot fellow employees.

A deputy with Lathrop Police Services took a report Monday on the criminal threat, indicating that the suspect told coworkers that he would arrive to work Tuesday and shoot employees. Authorities say the suspect also displayed a photo of himself holding a firearm.

When contacted by the deputy who responded, the suspect said he did not intend to commit the crime. Authorities arrested and booked 25 year old Brandon Bernardeau and charged him with criminal threats with the intent to terrorize. He was being held on $150,000 bond and expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.

"Criminal threats are not to be taken lightly," Lathrop Police Services said in an online statemtent. "A suspect may have no intention of completing the violence, but what matters is the perception of the intended victim. If the victim believes that the suspect has the means and capability to commit the act, it is a criminal threat."

Amber Alert Activated in Merced

MERCED COUNTY - Authorities activated the Amber Alert system Saturday morning after a report of a child abduction.

The child is named John Weir. He is two years old with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and tan shorts.

John was last seen with his father Steven Weir on September 20th at about 7:00pm in Merced, according to the California Highway Patrol. 

Weir is 32 years old, 5’10” and weighs 300lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and cargo shorts.

They are believed to be in a red 2005 Hyundai Elantra with the license plate CA 5SKT544. Weir is considered armed and dangerous according to authorities.

Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts or who may have seen them is encouraged to call 911.

Fake Beard Bandit Robs Valley Banks

MODESTO - A man disguised with what appeared to be a fake beard robbed a bank in Modesto Monday morning and is possibly the same suspect who robbed several others.

At about 10:40am officers were called to the Bank of Stockton for a report of a robbery.

The suspect demanded cash from the bank and fled prior to police arriving.

Authorities say the suspect was wearing a motorcycle helmet and what appeared to be a fake beard.

No weapons were seen during the robbery and no injuries were reported. An ambulance was called to the bank for an expecting mother who was upset by the incident, but she was expected to be ok.

A short time later, a suspect with a matching description robbed a bank in Ripon.

At about 12:20pm, a Bank of Stockton branch in Manteca was also robbed by a suspect with a similar description. The suspect in that case was seen entering a black older model Dodge Neon.

Authorities are urging citizens to be aware of their surroundings at all times.

Police Investigate Shooting Death

STOCKTON - Police investigated an early morning shooting that claimed the life of a 32 year old man Tuesday.

Shortly before 2:00am, authorities responded to a report of a shooting on the 3500 block of Harvey Avenue.

Arriving officers found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives responded to take over the homicide investigation. Authorities had no motive and no suspect information at time of publication.

Third Suspect Arrested in Homicide Case

MODESTO - Authorities announced the arrest of a third suspect in a homicide case Monday.

Police say 18 year old Samuel Cervantes was arrested Monday morning in connection to the homicide of 63 year old Jace Decker.

Detectives with the violent crimes unit identified Cervantes as a suspect through follow up investigation and charged him with homicide.

Authorities say the three are suspects in the unprovoked attack on Decker the night of August 10th in Garrison Park. Police believe there is a gang element in the case, and that the suspects attacked Decker believing he was a sex offender registrant. The victim however was not and later died from his injuries.

On August 17th police arrested Matthew Arguello and identified Ruben Rosales as a suspect. Rosales turned himself in at the Modesto Police Department on Friday.

Police are crediting members of the community and local media for assisting in the case.

Homicide Suspect Surrenders to Police

MODESTO - Authorities reported a suspect wanted in connection to the beating death of a homeless man surrendered Friday.

Ruben Rosales, 25, was arrested by police after turning himself in at the Modesto Police Department Friday. Rosales was wanted as part of a duo for the beating death of 63 year old Jace Decker in Garrison Park on August 10th.

Authorities say Rosales, along with Matthew Arguello physically assaulted the victim without provocation, mistaking him as a sex offender. The victim was not, according to officials. Arguello was arrested August 17th.

Police say both suspects are known criminal street gang members, and the attack was gang motivated.

Taco Truck Robbery Suspects Arrested

STOCKTON - Police arrested two suspects after a robbery attempt at a taco truck. 

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of El Dorado and Acacia Streets shortly after 3:30pm.

Officers witnessed the two suspcts trying to enter a taco truck, who fled as soon as officers attempted to make contact.

As the suspects ran away, one of them dropped a firearm. Both were apprehended, but authorities say one suspect resisted.

Jorge Romero, 19 and a 17 year old were arrested and charged with attempted robbery. Additionally, the 17 year old was charged with resisting arrest and a $250,000 warrant for robbery.
