MODESTO - A Pedestrian was killed after being struck by a train in downtown Modesto Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly after 6:30pm, dispatched near the intersection of 8th and K Streets. Emergency crews arrived on scene and located the pedestrian, only identified as an adult male, behind the lumber yard north of L Street.

First responders arrived and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The stopped freight train blocked several downtown intersections as authorities investigated the crash.

    My condolences to the family of the man that got hit by the train. This is the reason why they should get rid of the train passing thru downtown. The train should pass far away from town. It blocks traffic, too loud, and its dangerous too pedestrains.
