Authorities say they responded earlier in the day to the residence after receiving a request for a security check. Police received no answer at the door after attempting to make contact.

Police responded to the scene again after receiving a report that there was a man with blood on himself down on the porch, and possibly others injured inside. That was when officers found Espinoza and the three victims inside.

Police say that although an official cause of death has not been released by the coroner, the injuries sustained by the victims are consistent with blunt force trauma. Authorities believe that evidence at the scene indicates the murders happened late Friday or early Saturday.

Espinoza was released from the hospital Wednesday and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail without bail on three counts of murder.
