CONGRATS TO BUSTER POSEY, 2012 NL MVP!

Written by

San Francisco, Ca. - Congratulations to Giants catcher Buster Posey on being named the 2012 National League Most Valuable Player. Just weeks after winning his 2nd World Series ring in 3 years and just one year removed from a horrific ankle injury that shelved him for much of 2011, Buster came back with a vengeance receiving 27 of the 32 first place votes.

Posey becomes the first catcher to win NL MVP in over 40 years (Johnny Bench 1972). At just 25 years old Buster set career high's in Batting Average - .336, Home Runs - 24, and RBI's - 103, while being the dominate force in the Giants line-up during the second half of their championship season.

Posey knows playing catcher is rigorous and takes its toll on player's.

"I think anybody that has caught before understands the grind of catching, not only the physical, the nicks, the wear and tear of squatting for nine innings night in, day out, but just the mental grind of working a pitching staff," Posey said. "It's demanding."

Posey beat out 2011 NL MVP Ryan Braun of the Brewer's , and Pirate's outfielder Andrew McCutchen for the honors.

Buster fought extremely hard while recuperating from his 2011 fractured fibula and severely torn ligaments in his left ankle.

"I definitely have a deeper appreciation for being able to play baseball," he said. "I've seen that it can be taken away quick."

His hard work and dedication paid off in a huge way. A stellar all around year and a World Series Championship...I don't think it could have gotten much better.
