Patterson Area Schools Locked Down for Pursuit

PATTERSON - Authorities pursuing a vehicle Monday morning requested area schools to be locked down.

The pursuit began at about 9:30am. Early indications indicated the driver was a 17 year old male wanted on a variety of charges including burglary related charges and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.

The driver was seen several times on Baldwin Road driving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was described as a light gray 2002 Nissan Pathfinder.

After several attempts to stop the vehicle, the driver attempted to ram two motor units before fleeing at high speeds again. The vehicle was later spotted on Baldwin Road and crashed near Zachariah.

The driver fled on foot toward an orchard but was apprehended in a canal area at about 9:45am.

WATERFORD - Authorities are seeking assistance from the public on the anniversary of a baby who was found deceased in a gas station trash can.

December first marks the five year anniversary that the child was found at the Bait Barn gas station on Highway 132. The baby was about one day old when he was found in the trash can.

Detectives were unable to locate the parents for the baby boy or determine the reason he was left in the trash can. The newborn was laid to rest at Ceres Memorial Park.

Police: Burglar Fatally Shot by Turlock Homeowner

TURLOCK - Police investigated a fatal shooting Monday afternoon, after authorities say a man attempted to break into a home.

At about 1:01pm, police responded to the residence on Thor Avenue. There they found a man who was suffering life threatening gunshot wounds, and began performing CPR until medics could arrive. He was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

Detectives investigating the incident believe the man had broken into the home where the shooting took place and was confronted by the homeowner who opened fire. Police say it was the homeowner who called 911 and cooperated with investigators.

Authorities say the identity of the man who was shot was unknown, and the investigation continues.

Body of Child Found in Delhi Canal

DELHI - The body of three year old Andres Tomas, who went missing from his grandmother's home in Delhi over the weekend. was located Monday afternoon, as the search entered its third day. 

Authorities located him with the use of an underwater robot. He was located in the lateral number 6 canal in Delhi, about two miles from his grandmother’s home where he originally went missing Saturday afternoon.


The boy was last seen at about 4:00pm Saturday afternoon at the home near Shanks Road in Delhi. Multiple authorities and even members of the community searched the area for any signs of the child. Authorities used divers with sonar equipment, search and rescue teams and an air unit to help in locating the child.


Reports indicate the boy’s father was at work and the child was left in the care of the grandmother, who lost sight of him for a moment before he disappeared.

Hunter Reported Missing Near Highway 88 Located

AMADOR COUNTY - A missing hunter was located safe after being separated from his friend Friday near Highway 88.

The hunter was reported missing in the Peddler Hill area of Amador County. His friend was able to provide a last known gps location to authorities who were able to locate him during a search with the assistance of a CHP helicopter.

The hunter was unhurt, but cold from being out in the elements. Authorities credit the friend's quick action of using the last known gps location to guide the search team in the right direction.

Authorities would like to remind anyone visiting the wilderness in Amador County to prepare for the elements and let someone know where you are going.

Child Suffers Gunshot Wound in Stockton

STOCKTON - An 11 year old child was transported to UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 5:00pm police were called to a home on the 8900 block of Ledgewood Avenue in north Stockton for a report of a child who was shot. Arriving police and medics moved the child to begin treatment and located a firearm under his body. He was transported by ground ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento in critical condition.


Preliminary indications suggest the shooting was accidental according to Officer Joseph Silva, a Stockton Police spokesman. The street was closed off by officers for investigation. Detectives responded to determine what the circumstances were leading up to the shooting.

Police Chaplains arrived to console distraught family members who arrived at the home. Officer Silva indicated it was too early to tell if the boy was home alone or who found him. Detectives worked to determine how the boy obtained the weapon.
