MODESTO - A high speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended with two suspects in custody Monday morning.

LOS BANOS - A collection drive for old cell phones has been organized to help benefit active duty military personnel.
The collection is happening at Los Banos Fire Station 1, located at 333 7th Street during the month of September. The goal is to collect 100 devices by the end of the month. Each device valued at $5, or a $5 contribution will convert to a free 2.5 hour calling card for a service member.
The drive will collect old cell phones, tablets and smart phones working or not. Century 21 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 166 is also participating in the collection.
Since 2004, the event has provided more than 220 million free minutes of talk time for troops, and has recycled 11.7 million devices. Over 2800 families of veterans have also received emergency funding since July of 2012.

MODESTO - Authorities arrested six people during a sex reigstrant sweep targeting offenders who were out of compliance.
The three day operation included the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, Modesto Police, Probation Officers and US Marshals. In total, 33 compliance checks were completed leading to the six arrests.
Authorities say detectives will follow up and likely lead to about 30 arrest warrants for violators, and US Marshals will follow up on five offenders who have left the state.
MODESTO - West Hatch Road was closed Monday morning as fire crews battled flames at a house fire.
Firefighters responded shortly after 9:30am to the 1500 block of Hatch Road between Ustick Avenue and Rancho Encantado Drive. Dark smoke was visible from the home as fire crews arrived.
Within moments, the home experienced structural failure causing a significant portion of the roof to cave in.
Multiple fire crews from Modesto and Ceres responded to the scene. Sheriff Deputies assisted with traffic control.
Cause and damage estimate was not available at time of publication.
