CERES - Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a woman who they say attempted to cash a fraudulent check and stole a vehicle.

Authorities say the woman entered the Bank of America on Mitchell Road in Ceres on July 25th and attempted to cash a fraudulent check. The suspect attempted to use someone else's identification to cash the check but was unsuccessful.

While she attempted to cash the check, she managed to steal another customer's keys from the counter and stole their vehicle. It was later found abandoned and recovered in Turlock.

A credit card that was in the stolen vehicle was later used at the Turlock Target store and a gas station in Manteca, authorities say.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity to contact Detective Trinidad Viramontes at (209) 538-5730, or Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 where callers can remain anonymous.
