MODESTO - Fire crews responded to a triplex fire early Sunday morning that caused major damage to the building.
Firefighters with Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection and Modesto Fire responded to the building on the 100 block of Kerr Avenue next to the M&ET Railroad tracks at about 2:18am. Arriving fire crews encountered one unit of the triplex heavily involved in fire.
The fire had burned its way into the attic, which is shared across the triplex and spread to the other two units, as well as a trash pile outside of the triplex. Firefighters were able to containt the fire within 30 minutes. None of the units were occupied, however they were full of debris.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and a damage estimate was placed at $100,000.
