Major Injury Crash Investigated

MODESTO - Authorities investigated a crash that sent three people to the hospital Sunday morning, one with major injuries.

Shortly after 10:00am Sunday morning, emergency crews responded to the intersection of Crows Landing and Hackett Roads for a collision involving two vehicles.

Arriving responders located a Toyota Sedan that appeared to have collided head on with a white pickup truck.

Early reports indicate the truck was south on Crows Landing and the Toyota was westbound on Hackett. The Toyota may have turned into the southbound lanes at the time the collision occurred.

Authorities closed the intersection to investigate the crash. The driver of the Toyota was rushed to the hospital with major injuries. Early reports indicate first responders were performing CPR on the driver. The occupants of the pickup did not suffer major injuries.

Officials at the scene were looking into the possibility that the driver of the Toyota suffered a medical emergency during the crash, and may have been involved in another collision prior.

Ceres Police Traffic Officers investigated the collision.

Two Pedestrians Struck by Vehicle in Modesto

MODESTO - Two pedestrians where struck by a vehicle in Downtown Modesto Saturday evening. The incident hapened shortly after 7pm at the corner of 11th and I Streets.

Police and medics responded to the scene and offered aid to the adult pedestrians on scene. One pedestrian sat on the ground and one was being transported into an ambulance. The pedestrians were alert and complained of neck pain. 

A dark tan sedan type Ford vehicle remained on scene. No information has been relased on the driver of the vehicle or status of the pedestrians.

Several Detained After Hours Long Stand-off

MODESTO - Authorities detained several people in a central Modesto home Friday night after an investigation led to a pursuit.

The incident began around 4:15pm as detectives with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office were conducting an investigation into a suspect known to be armed.

A short time later, authorities located a vehicle associated with the investigation being driven by the suspect and attempted to stop him. The suspect fled into the downtown Modesto area and ran into a home on Walden Street.

Authorities quickly surrounded the home and called in the SWAT team. The Sheriff's Air Support unit circled overhead assisting units on the ground. Modesto Police Officers also assisted in the search. As the night went on, a warrant was issued for the location.

The occupants of the home later called 911 indicating they wished to surrender. In total, 5 people were taken into custody shortly before 10:00pm including the suspect sought by officials.

Deputies Investigate Mid Day Shooting

MODESTO - Authorities investigated a shooting early Wednesday afternoon that injured one person.

Shortly after noon, deputies with the Stanislaus County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of a person shot on the 1400 block of Avalon Avenue.

Early reports indicate the victim was wounded during a drive-by shooting. It was unclear what provoked the attack.

The victim was rushed to a hospital by ambulance and was expected to survive.

Investigators were searching for a black or gray Chevy SUV with Texas plates, occupied by two men. The occupants of the vehicle tossed a duffel bag on Sutter Avenue as they fled the area, its contents were unknown.

Authorities closed off parts of Avalon and Sutter as they examined the crime scene for evidence.

Police Respond to Report of Person Shot

MODESTO - Police responded for a report of a person shot early Thursday morning.

At about 1:35am, officers were dispatched to a shooting call near the intersection of Locust Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Early indications suggest one person was found suffering from a gunshot wound in a nearby home.

An ambulance was called to the scene for the shooting victim, who was said to be conscious and breathing.

The only description of the possible suspect was said to be a male wearing all black and a bandana covering their face. They fled on foot before officers arrived.

Flyers Cause Concern Among Residents

MODESTO - Flyers discovered at a College Area neighborhood church Sunday morning have caused concern and outrage among several residents.

The flyer, credited to a local chapter of the group "The Daily Stormer," was found taped to the doors of the College Avenue United Church of Christ.

The flyer reads "More children are molested by rich Jews than are killed by AR-15s. Ban Jews not guns."

Copies of the flyer were posted by persons unknown on the sanctuary doors and a fence of the church.

Residents were upset by the discovery, and weren't sure who committed the act. Although the church is not a Jewish congregation, those aware of the act were compelled to show their support for the Jewish community.

The Southern Poverty Law Center describes Andrew Anglin as the founder of the Neo Nazi site Daily Stormer, also listing him as a "prolific internet troll and a serial harasser."

The Daily Stormer website is described on Wikipedia as "an American far right neo Nazi, White Supremacist, and Holocaust denial commentary and message board website that advocates for the genocide of Jews."

Area residents continued to express dismay into the week as word of the flyers spread on social media. Nearby college campus bulletin boards were checked for additional flyers. None were found there, although similar flyers from the same group were circulated in the past.

Fire Causes Damage to Modesto Business

MODESTO - Emergency crews responded to a report of a fire at a business late Sunday afternoon.

The fire was reported at a business on the 1900 block of Crows Landing Road between Glenn and Imperial Avenues.

The fire was dispatched shortly before 7:00pm. Early reports indicate a second alarm was dispatched to bring additional resources to the scene.

Police Investigate Stabbing at Park

MODESTO - Police Investigated a stabbing Sunday afternoon that injured a woman.

Officers were dispatched shortly before 1:00pm for the report of a stabbing at Muncy Park.

Early reports indicate a woman was stabbed in the neck by another woman who fled the scene. The suspect is described as a Caucasian adult woman wearing a blue shirt and black jeans. She may have been detained at the scene.

An ambulance was called to the scene for the victim.

The crash was dispatched at about 7:50pm near the 400 block of I Street in West Modesto. Early reports indicate a person was struck by a vehicle that may have left the scene.

Police Investigate Shooting

MODESTO - Police investigate a shooting that injured one person Monday night.

At about 9:30pm police responded to a report of a person shot near the intersection of Locust and North Madison Streets.

Authorities arrived and located a female victim and rushed her to the hospital. As of 10:30pm, police said the woman was in stable condition.

Neighbors in the area said they heard about 5 gunshots.
