Major Injury Crash Investigated

MODESTO - Authorities investigated a crash that sent three people to the hospital Sunday morning, one with major injuries.

Shortly after 10:00am Sunday morning, emergency crews responded to the intersection of Crows Landing and Hackett Roads for a collision involving two vehicles.

Arriving responders located a Toyota Sedan that appeared to have collided head on with a white pickup truck.

Early reports indicate the truck was south on Crows Landing and the Toyota was westbound on Hackett. The Toyota may have turned into the southbound lanes at the time the collision occurred.

Authorities closed the intersection to investigate the crash. The driver of the Toyota was rushed to the hospital with major injuries. Early reports indicate first responders were performing CPR on the driver. The occupants of the pickup did not suffer major injuries.

Officials at the scene were looking into the possibility that the driver of the Toyota suffered a medical emergency during the crash, and may have been involved in another collision prior.

Ceres Police Traffic Officers investigated the collision.

Two Pedestrians Struck by Vehicle in Modesto

MODESTO - Two pedestrians where struck by a vehicle in Downtown Modesto Saturday evening. The incident hapened shortly after 7pm at the corner of 11th and I Streets.

Police and medics responded to the scene and offered aid to the adult pedestrians on scene. One pedestrian sat on the ground and one was being transported into an ambulance. The pedestrians were alert and complained of neck pain. 

A dark tan sedan type Ford vehicle remained on scene. No information has been relased on the driver of the vehicle or status of the pedestrians.

Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle, Police Investigate

MODESTO - Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle Friday evening.

The crash was dispatched at about 7:50pm near the 400 block of I Street in West Modesto. Early reports indicate a person was struck by a vehicle that may have left the scene.

The pedestrian was said to be down on the ground, unresponsive but breathing. Authorities closed off I Street between 4th and 5th Streets to investigate.

Two Killed in Crash, Including CalFire Captain

MERCED COUNTY - Authorities say a crash claimed the lives of two motorists Wednesday morning, including a CalFire captain.

The crash was reported at about 7:02am near the area of Highway 140 near Santa Fe Grade. Early reports indicate two vehicles collided head on.

Authorities say a Dodge Ram pickup truck attempting to pass a Crown Victoria collided head on into a Ford Ranger.

The Ram overturned and landed off the roadway. The Ranger stopped in the road and caught fire, according to the California Highway Patrol. Both drivers were killed in the crash.

The occupants of the Crown Victoria were not injured in the incident, however their vehicle sustained damage.

Officials with Cal Fire identified the captain killed in the crash as Paul Rotondaro. Authorities say he was the driver of the Ford Ranger.

Captain Rotondaro was part of the Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit.

The name of the driver of the Ram was not available, and only identified as a man in his 30’s.

As of 11:30am, the roadway near the crash scene was still closed.

CHP Investigation on Highway 99

TURLOCK - Officials with the California Highway Patrol closed down two lanes of Highway 99 late Tuesday night for a traffic investigation.

Shortly before midnight, authorities were dispatched to the area of Southbound Highway 99 near Lander Avenue for a report of the discover of a deceased person.

Emergency crews responded and closed down the two right lanes of Southbound Highway 99 at the Lander Avenue overcrossing.

Officers took measurements and examined the area. Fire personnel was also on scene.

Pedestrian Killed by Hit and Run Driver

STOCKTON - Authorities are investigating a hit and run crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian Wednesday night.

The crash happened shortly after 8:00pm near East Anderson Street and South Airport Way. Police say a 60 year old man was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle.

Authorities say the vehicle was northbound on Airport Way when the collision occurred, and the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.

The driver of the vehicle fled the area after hitting the pedestrian, who died from his injuries. 

Police are describing the vehicle as a grey or light blue older model sedan.

Pedestrian Critically Injured During Traffic Collision

STOCKTON - A man in his 30’s was injured after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night, police say.

The collision happened at about 10:03pm near Hammer Lane and Lorraine Avenue. Officials say the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Hammer as he stepped into the roadway.

The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition. His identity is unknown, and police are looking to identify him. 

Police say the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
