School Bus Driver Arrested on DUI, Child Endangerment Charges

WEST STANISLAUS COUNTY - A school bus driver transporting students was arrested on DUI charges Monday, authorities say.

At about 2:42pm, officers with the California Highway Patrol received a call about a school bus that was being driven in a reckless manner.

Officers responded and located the bus near Morton Davis Drive near the Diablo Grande community.

Officials say the driver, identified as 55 year old Karolyn Denise Ray of Patterson, was showing signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Ray was placed under arrest and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of DUI and Child Endangerment. Officials say there were children on board the bus at the time, ranging in ages from kindergarten to fifth grade.

The children were released to their parents, none were injured.

"It's troubling to know that anyone chooses to operate a vehicle under the influence," said Officer Thomas Olsen with the California Highway Patrol. "It's even more troubling that a school bus driver made the decision to do so."

Ray was a bus driver for First Student, a contracted service for school districts.

Olsen went on to say they were glad to remove the driver from the roadways so she wasn't a danger to herself or other motorists.

I wonder if this is the same bus driver that was driving down Kinshire Way at a high rate of speed on Monday? The bus did have children on it at the time. I called the company and they said that since I did not have the bus number there was nothing they could do, bulls**t they have GPS.
