Police Seek Vehicle in Fatal Hit and Run

STOCKTON - Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a vehicle caught on surveillance video following a fatal hit and run crash over the weekend.

Shortly before 7:30pm on March 10th, officers were called to the area of Main Street and Searchlight Avenue for a report of a person struck by a vehicle. The victim, a man in his 60's, was struck by the vehicle while he was crossing the street. The vehicle did not stop at the scene before police arrived.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. Traffic investigators responded to the scene to take over the case.

A surveillance image was released by police depicting the vehicle the fled the scene. The vehicle is described as possibly a white Trailblazer or Oldsmobile Bravada.

Authorities are encouraging anyone who may recognize the vehicle or who may have information regarding this case to contact the Stockton Police Traffic Unit at (209) 937-8354 or Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600 where callers can remain anonymous.

Homeownership Seminar in Modesto

MODESTO - A seminar for first time home-buyers will be held at Modesto High School to discuss current market topics.

 
The main topic of discussion will revolve around rent increases and tenants having to move due to landlords selling their homes.

East Modesto Shooting Investigated

MODESTO - Police investigated a shooting Thursday afternoon that locked down at least one school campus.

The shooting was reported near the intersection of North McClure Road and Penny lane near Hughes Elementary. The investigation closed off the area and placed the school on lockdown. 

Early on in the investigation police said there were no injuries. The circumstances surrounding the shooting were still being investigated at time of publication.

WESTON RANCH - A nine year old girl died from injuries after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon, police say.

At about 3:39pm, officers responded to the area of Carolyn Weston Boulevard and Ishi Goto Street for a report of a child hit by a vehicle. Early reports indicate the child was struck while crossing the street.

A citizen performed CPR on the child until medics arrived to transport the girl, who was then flown to UC Davis medical center. She later died from her injuries.

Authorities day the driver remained at the scene as officers investigated the crash.

According to an email sent out by the Manteca Unified School District, the child was a 4th grade student at August Knodt Elementary. The email expressed condolences and encouraged strength among staff members and their families. Additional district staff members and counselors were expected to be on campus for the remainder of the week.

Stockton Shooting Investigated

STOCKTON - A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot Saturday evening.

The shooting happened at about 6:22pm. Police were called to a pharmacy near the intersection of Hammer Lane and Kelley Drive. A man was found suffering from a gunshot wound and rushed to a hospital.

The parking lot was closed off as a crime scene as police investigated. A black four door car was being examined and photographed by authorities in the lot.

At time of publication, there were no updates on the victim’s condition or suspect information.

MODESTO - Authorities have arrested a 28 year old man on DUI and Homicide charges in connection to a fiery crash that killed two people overnight.

Alfonso Rodriguez-Quintana was charged in the deaths of two passengers of a blue 2002 Dodge pickup that crashed into a tree near the intersection of McHenry and Sylvan Avenues at about 12:30am Thursday morning. The crash trapped the two occupants who lost their lives, Rodriguez-Quintana was found on the ground nearby.

Arriving first responders found the truck in flames and work to extinguish the fire. Investigators believe Rodriguez-Quintana was the driver of the truck and was suspected of driving while intoxicated. He was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on two counts of homicide, driving under the influence causing injury, gross bodily injury during the commission of a felony and an outstanding warrant.

Traffic investigators are still working to determine the events leading up to the crash. Police are still examining evidence and are looking for any witnesses to the crash.

Police Investigate Fiery Fatal Crash

MODESTO - Police investigated an early morning crash that claimed the life of at least one person Thursday.

The crash was reported at about 12:30am near the intersection of McHenry and Sylvan Avenues. According to a Modesto Police Sergeant, a blue four door pickup was reported traveling eastbound when it collided into a tree on the north side of Sylvan Avenue. The impact uprooted the tree and caused the truck to burst into flames. One person was located outside of the vehicle and transported by ambulance. Their condition was unknown at time of publication.

At least one person lost their life in the crash, and possibly a second deceased occupant was anticipated in the vehicle, according ot authorities. Speed is being considered as a factor in the crash. 

Sylvan Avenue was closed for several hours as police investigated the collision.

Man Critical After Being Shot in the Face

STOCKTON - A man who suffered a gunshot wound to the face was rushed to a hospital early Wednesday morning.

The shooting was reported near the intersection of East Worth Street and South Grant Street shortly after midnight. Police were alerted to the report and located a man suffering from a bullet wound to his cheek. Authorities say the victim was only able to communicate that he was shot by two African-American males.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Stockton Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600 where callers can remain anonymous.

Overturned Vehicle near Central Modesto

MODESTO - Emergency crews responded to a report of an overturned vehicle Friday morning.

The crash was reported at about 10:43am near the Central Modesto exit of Northbound Highway 99. Early reports indicate a single vehicle overturned, with at least one occupant trapped.

Two nurses who were off duty stopped to help as fire crews arrived. Traffic was delayed in both directions as emergency personnel worked to treat the injured motorist. There was no update on their extent of injuries at time of publication.

Early Morning Fire Displaces Nine

MODESTO - Nine people including one child were displaced in an early morning fire on Johnson Street Tuesday.

The fire was reported at about 7:15am at a home on Johnson Street in Modesto. Early reports indicated fire to the rear of a home. Responding fire crews reported a heavy column of smoke visible from downtown.

The two story home was located to the rear of a property behind another home, with all occupants safely evacuated. Downed power lines created a safety hazard for firefighters battling the blaze.

According to the Modesto Fire Department, the blaze started on the outside of the home before working its way inside. Investigators have yet to determine a cause of the fire, and damage is estimated at $100,000.

Red Cross volunteers responded to assist the displaced residents.
