STOCKTON - A road rage incident became violent after two people became involved in an altercation that ended with a stabbing Thursday night.

Shortly before 9:30pm, both the suspect and victim were involved in a road rage incident on Interstate 5. Police say the suspect pulled off the highway and into a gas station and noticed the victim had followed him and began to approach.

Both men began arguing and fighting, and the suspect armed himself with a knife. He then stabbed the vicitm several times, but was also injured himself during the altercation.

Both were transported to a hospital for treatment. The victim suffered serious stab wounds and required surgery but is expected to survive.

Bloody clothes and shoes could be seen in the parking lot of an Arco gas station on Benjamin Holt Drive. Police taped off the business, and the gas station across the street, closing down the roadway to traffic. There were also bloody hand prints and stains on some of the gas equipment.
