MODESTO - One person was rushed to a hospital after suffering a gun shot wound Monday morning.

Deputies were dispatched at about 7:00am to the area of Crows Landing Road and South Seventh Street for a report of a person shot. Early reports indicate the phone call to dispatch disconnected, and arriving deputies did not locate the victim.

Moments later another 911 call was placed leading deputies to the area of 9th and B Streets. Deputies and medical personnel located the victim in a vehicle there who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. That victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Indications suggest that the shooting may have taken place on Herndon Road near a market and the victim was driven away. Deputies were in the area searching for evidence of a crime scene.

Police investigate Sunday night shooting

MODESTO - Police investigated a shooting that injured one person Sunday night.

Officers with the Modesto Police Department responded to an apartment complex at about 9:00pm Sunday night for the report of a person shot.

The incident happened near the 1000 block of Tully Road. Police arrived and located a victim. At least one person reported hearing one gunshot. The victim was rushed by ambulance to a hospital for treatment, their condition was unknown.

Early reports indicate a suspect fled south on Tully on foot. They may have been wearing gray pants and a dark colored Raiders sweatshirt.

Authorities Seek Man Who Stole Scratchers

AMADOR COUNTY - Authorities are seeking a man captured on surveillance camera suspected of stealing lottery scratchers on March 2nd.

The theft happened at about 2:00am Saturday at Jon’s Pit Stop in Jackson. In the photo, a man wearing dark pants and a gray and camo hooded sweatshirt can be seen carrying a display case carrying several lottery scratchers.

Two Teens Killed in Stockton Shooting

STOCKTON - Police investigated a shooting that claimed the life of two teenage boys early Sunday morning.

Eight minutes after midnight police were called to the 7000 block of Montauban Avenue for a report of gunfire with what appeared to be a person down on the ground. Arriving officers located the two victims, boys aged 14 and 15, suffering from gunshot wounds. One boy was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics, and the second was rushed to a hospital where he also died.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene to take over the investigation, and worked into the late morning to determine the events leading up to the shooting. Authorities had no information or description regarding a suspect or motive.

Newman Officer Killed During Traffic Stop

NEWMAN - A Newman Police Officer was shot and killed Wednesday morning, and authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect.

Corporal Ronil Singh conducted a traffic stop near Merced Street and Eucalyptus Avenue shortly before 1:00am, calling out shots fired to dispatch moments later. Corporal Singh’s partner responded and found him down in the road suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to Newman after hearing the call. The suspect, who remained unidentified late Wednesday morning, fled the area prior to their arrival. Surveillance images released by authorities show a man in a liquor store purchasing what appeared to be cases of beer. His vehicle was described as a crew cab Dodge pickup truck, possibly silver in color with “AR” dealership paper plates.

Corporal Singh was a native of Fiji and served with Newman Police since 2011. He is survived by his wife and five month old son. Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts in this case is urged to not approach him, but call 911 immediately. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Police Investigate Highway Gunfire Incident

MODESTO - Officers with the Modesto Police Department detained several occupants of a vehicle after a report of shots fired on Highway 99 Saturday afternoon.

Early reports indicated a motorist was shot at by another vehicle as they traveled northbound on the highway through Ceres. A police officer later located a matching vehicle near Central Modesto on the highway and made a traffic stop with several other officers near Standiford Avenue. Several occupants of the vehicle, described as a red Acura, were detained.

A tow truck was later called by police for the vehicle, and early indications suggest a weapon was recovered. Traffic on highway 99 was stopped for a short time, no injuries were reported.

Modesto Police Investigate Homicide

MODESTO - Police investigated the shooting death of a man in his 30’s as a homicide Sunday night.

Police responded to the shooting at a home on the 400 block of Donegal Drive at about 8:00pm and located the victim. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and transported to a hospital, but died from his injuries.

Detectives responded to the scene to examine evidence and interview witnesses and say the incident is isolated. No suspect information or motive was released.

The victim was identified as 37 year old James Chisum.
