One victim, identified as 25 year old Terrelle Swearengin of Sacramento, died from his injuries. The second man, identified only as a 22 year old Modesto resident, was treated for injuries that were considered not life threatening.

According to police spokeswoman Heather Graves, the early investigation suggests that the two men were walking on Sutter Avenue when a vehicle pulled up and an occupant fired a gun striking both of them. A description of the suspect or suspects was not available.

Graves encourages anyone who may have any information regarding this incident to contact Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 where callers can remain anonymous.
