MODESTO - Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting and have issued an arrest warrant for a second man.
On Friday, police arrested 24 year old Javier Carrillo as authorities served several warrants throughout Stanislaus County. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on a charge of murder.
The search warrants continued Sunday after authorities identified a second suspect identified as 20 year old Alberto Delacruz. Investigators believe Delacruz may have been involved in the shooting. He was not located, and a warrant for his arrest was issued.
The shooting happened Wednesday evening. Officers responded to Orchard Park Way just south of Floyd Avenue at about 8:15pm for a report of a person assaulted. They found 31 year old David Reyes suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Reyes was transported to a hospital where he later died.
Investigators continue to work to determine what led up to the shooting, however they believe the victim and suspects knew each other.
