GROVELAND - Authorities with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal shooting Tuesday morning.

Deputies responded to a report of a woman suffering from a gun shot wound shortly after 8:00am. Arriving deputies located the victim deceased.

Authorities provided no further information on the case but are investigating the incident as a suspicious death. Smith Station Road was closed at Highway 120 to Sutton Road.

Authorities are asking for anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Sheriff Communication Center at (209) 533-5815.

Authorities Seek Man Who Stole Scratchers

AMADOR COUNTY - Authorities are seeking a man captured on surveillance camera suspected of stealing lottery scratchers on March 2nd.

The theft happened at about 2:00am Saturday at Jon’s Pit Stop in Jackson. In the photo, a man wearing dark pants and a gray and camo hooded sweatshirt can be seen carrying a display case carrying several lottery scratchers.

Two Teens Killed in Stockton Shooting

STOCKTON - Police investigated a shooting that claimed the life of two teenage boys early Sunday morning.

Eight minutes after midnight police were called to the 7000 block of Montauban Avenue for a report of gunfire with what appeared to be a person down on the ground. Arriving officers located the two victims, boys aged 14 and 15, suffering from gunshot wounds. One boy was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics, and the second was rushed to a hospital where he also died.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene to take over the investigation, and worked into the late morning to determine the events leading up to the shooting. Authorities had no information or description regarding a suspect or motive.

Modesto Police Arrest Homicide Suspect

MODESTO - Police arrested a homicide suspect after serving several search warrants Thursday.

The arrest came after a lengthy standoff on Yosemite Meadows drive. Police SWAT officers deployed teargas at a home and made announcement over a public address system for the suspect to exit a home.

Officers in SWAT gear and gas masks entered the home late Thursday night and cleared the residence, then began conducting yard to yard searches. The suspect was located in a neighboring residence next to the surrounded home.

In the driveway of the surrounded home, authorities located a black Range Rover covered in a tarp. It matches the vehicle described by witnesses at the scene of the fatal shooting at the CR2 bar on Sunday night.

Authorities say 22 year old Thomas Hinchman was shot and killed following a disturbance at the bar Sunday night.

The suspect who was wearing a dark hoodie was led out of the home in handcuffs and transported away in a police car.

Search Warrant Prompts School Lockdowns

MODESTO - Police placed several area schools on lockdown as officers served a search warrant Thursday morning.

Freedom Elementary, Savage Middle School and Somerset Middle School were all placed on lockdown as a precaution, police said.

The search warrant took place in the area of Merle Avenue. A large police presence, including a trailer, could be seen on roadways in the area. Traffic through the neighborhood was blocked off by officers.

Officials had no further information regarding the search warrant at time of publication. The lockdowns were lifted shortly after 10:00am

Two Men Shot in Ceres

CERES - Authorities investigate a shooting during a family gathering that left two men wounded Saturday afternoon.

The shooting happened on Chandra Court I’m Ceres shortly before 6:00pm. Early indications suggest the shooter fled in a vehicle after firing shots at the victims.

Officer Involved Shooting Reported in Merced

Witnesses reported seeing a police chase come to an end near a home, then gunfire.

 

 

MERCED - A pursuit ending in gunfire prompted an investigation by authorities Tuesday night.

The incident happened during the 8:00pm hour in the area of Lopes Avenue and Sydney Court. One vehicle illuminated by police spotlights appeared crashed into the garage of a home. Law enforcement officials closed off the area for investigation.

Early reports indicate the incident began as a pursuit a short distance away, and no deputies or officers were injured. The status of any involved suspects was not available at time of publication.

Authorities Led on Lengthy Pursuit

MERCED COUNTY - A lengthy pursuit beginning near Ceres ended after authorities used a spike strip to disable the fleeing vehicle.

Ceres Police, California Highway Patrol Officer and Sheriff Deputies all worked to bring the chase to a close. The vehicle, described as a pickup truck, fled at speeds reaching at some points 95 miles per hour. The pursuit wound through county roads between Ceres and Turlock before being spiked by a deputy, heading through Bradbury Road and Entering Highway 99.

The pursuit ended at about 9:30pm near the Hammatt Avenue exit on Southbound Highway 99 in Livingston. Two people, a male driver and pregnant female passenger, were detained from the vehicle.

An ambulance was requested for the passenger who was reportedly vomiting. At time of publication no further details were available.

Deputy Involved Shooting in Salida

SALIDA - Authorities with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office investigated a deputy involved shooting that happened Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened on the 5300 block of Stonehart Lane near Kiernan Avenue. Authorities say a suspect involved in the case was taken to the hospital. Their condition was not released at time of publication.

The events leading up to the shooting remained under investigation, and no deputies were injured.

Newman Officer Killed During Traffic Stop

NEWMAN - A Newman Police Officer was shot and killed Wednesday morning, and authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect.

Corporal Ronil Singh conducted a traffic stop near Merced Street and Eucalyptus Avenue shortly before 1:00am, calling out shots fired to dispatch moments later. Corporal Singh’s partner responded and found him down in the road suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to Newman after hearing the call. The suspect, who remained unidentified late Wednesday morning, fled the area prior to their arrival. Surveillance images released by authorities show a man in a liquor store purchasing what appeared to be cases of beer. His vehicle was described as a crew cab Dodge pickup truck, possibly silver in color with “AR” dealership paper plates.

Corporal Singh was a native of Fiji and served with Newman Police since 2011. He is survived by his wife and five month old son. Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts in this case is urged to not approach him, but call 911 immediately. He is considered armed and dangerous.
